Are you an enthusiastic Key Stage 1 support assistant looking for a rewarding role in a Wirral primary school?

Randstad Education is actively recruiting dedicated Year 1 Teaching Assistants for immediate start dates as well as long-term September placements across local schools on the Wirral.

Job Location: Wirral, Merseyside

Salary / Pay Rate: £14.25 per hour (Paid weekly via PAYE)

Start Date: Immediate or September Start

Job Summary: Join an energetic Key Stage 1 team as a Year 1 Teaching Assistant to help guide young learners as they make the vital step up from Reception into Key Stage 1. You will assist the class teacher with daily lesson delivery, facilitate phonics groups, and ensure children stay engaged and confident in their learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading small group intervention sessions focusing on early reading, phonics (e.g., Read Write Inc, Letters and Sounds), and core math skills.

  • Assisting the teacher with classroom preparation, marking support, and resource management.

  • Guiding pupils through the transition from play-based EYFS learning into the more structured Key Stage 1 national curriculum.

  • Promoting positive classroom behaviour and supporting students during playground supervision.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience as a school TA in Key Stage 1 or EYFS, or a completed Level 2/3 qualification in education support.

  • Strong working knowledge of early primary curriculum expectations, particularly early phonics and literacy.

  • Proactive, energetic nature with clear communication skills.
