Learning Mentor - Bodmin

We are currently seeking a compassionate and resilient Learning Mentor to support students in Bodmin who have faced challenges within mainstream education. This role offers a unique opportunity to utilise community-based learning to foster self-esteem, develop coping strategies, and encourage successful academic re-engagement.

Responsibilities:
  • Classroom Re-engagement: Develop and implement personalised strategies to help young people build confidence and successfully transition back into the classroom environment.
  • Community-Based Learning: Lead educational visits and activities across Bodmin to promote practical, real-world learning experiences.
  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work professionally with parents, carers, social workers, and local agencies to provide comprehensive pastoral support.
  • Targeted Interventions: Provide tailored support across Primary or Secondary phases, aligned with your professional experience.
Qualifications:
  • Driving License: Full UK Driving License and access to a reliable vehicle is essential for this position.
  • Education: GCSE grade C/4 or above in both Maths and English (or equivalent).
  • Experience: Previous experience working with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health), SEN, or vulnerable youth is highly valued.
  • Professional Skills: Excellent communication, patience, empathy, and strong behaviour management capabilities.
