Shop Quality Control Manager
Location: Guelph, ON (270 Southgate Drive)Work Schedule: 100% On-SiteEmployment Type: Full-Time, 12 month contract subject to extension About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Shop Quality Control Manager to lead quality assurance activities within their piping fabrication and welding facility. This position is responsible for ensuring all fabrication work complies with engineering specifications, applicable industry codes, welding procedures, and client quality requirements.The successful candidate will bring strong technical knowledge of pressure piping, welding quality, inspections, and quality documentation, while providing leadership in a fast-paced fabrication environment.Key Responsibilities
Lead quality control activities for piping fabrication and welding operations.Ensure compliance with ASME B31.3 (Process Piping), ASME B31.1 (Power Piping), and CSA Z662 (Oil & Gas Pipeline Systems).Review, maintain, and verify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ).Coordinate and oversee Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), hydrotesting, and visual inspections.Prepare and manage Quality Control data books and jurisdictional turnover packages for client submission.Collaborate with production, engineering, and project teams to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement.Maintain quality records, inspection documentation, and compliance throughout all stages of fabrication.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of Quality Control management experience within a piping fabrication, pressure piping, or welding shop.Strong working knowledge of ASME B31.3, ASME B31.1, and CSA Z662.Experience managing welding quality programs, inspections, and fabrication documentation.CWB Level II or III, AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), or an equivalent inspection certification is highly preferred.Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Strong attention to detail with the ability to ensure compliance in a production environment.
