About the role
Do you enjoy helping young children settle, explore, and learn through everyday classroom life? Are you looking for an early years role that gives you proper school experience from an immediate start?
*** Nursery Teaching Assistant
*** £90 - £107 per day
*** Immediate start until July 2026
*** Large primary school, Yardley
*** General classroom support in EYFS
The Role:
Support the Nursery class as part of the wider EYFS team, helping children follow routines, join in with play-based learning, and develop early communication and social skills. You will work alongside the class teacher, prepare simple resources, support daily classroom activities, and help children feel safe, settled, and ready to learn. The EYFS framework is mandatory for all early years providers in England and sets the standards that settings must meet to help children learn and develop well and stay healthy and safe.
The Candidate:
You are patient, energetic, and able to communicate clearly with young children. You enjoy being active in the classroom, supporting children at the earliest stage of school life, and helping build the routines, confidence, and curiosity that matter in Nursery. This role suits a graduate who wants practical early years experience before moving into teacher training. Primary teachers are responsible for the educational, social, and emotional development of children aged 3 to 11, so early years experience gives strong insight into that foundation stage.
Requirements
• Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
• Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
• Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
• Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.
• Career Goals – A desire to train as a teacher and build a long-term career in education.
The School:
This large primary school in Yardley offers the chance to build valuable early years experience in a busy, supportive setting. You will join an EYFS team where classroom support, clear routines, and positive relationships matter, giving you day-to-day exposure to the practical side of Nursery provision. National Careers notes that teaching assistants support teachers in the classroom and help children with reading, writing, and learning activities, while nursery workers help children up to age 5 develop and learn in a safe and supportive setting.
