Connect Appointments is recruiting a Mill Operative to join an established production business based in Ingliston, Edinburgh.

Our client operates a busy feed mill producing compound animal feed, requiring an experienced operative to support production on a 4-on 4-off shift pattern across days and nights.

What’s on offer?

• Temporary position
• 4-on 4-off shift pattern – rotating days and nights
• Pays starting 7am, nights starting 7pm
• £30,000 per annum

As a Mill Operative, your duties will include:

• Operating heavy mill machinery in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures to maximise throughput and feed quality
• Conducting daily stock takes and completing statutory records and production sheets
• Carrying out quality control checks in line with food safety and health and safety requirements
• Liaising with the engineering department to address breakdowns and minimise downtime
• Maintaining a clean, safe and audit-ready production environment

To be considered as a Mill Operative, you will need:

• Previous experience in a team-based manufacturing or production environment
• Experience working to strict safety and quality standards
• A minimum of National 5 or equivalent in Maths and English
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to work proactively under minimal supervision
• A relevant qualification or apprenticeship is preferred but not essential
• Confined spaces certification is advantageous but full training provided
