Atkins Search are exclusively in partnership with a reputable and cash-rich construction main contractor based in Stoke covering the Northern regions to recruit a Quantity Surveyor. This role is to manage and oversee the commercial processes of a range of construction projects across refurbishment and new build schemes.
The successful candidate for this role will have a responsibility for quantity surveying and estimating, so holding estimating knowledge and experience is important.

Role
Our client is looking to bring in an experienced Quantity Surveyor to work as a part of their existing construction team who is also responsible for estimating tenders plays a dual role that combines commercial management with pre-construction pricing and cost forecasting. You will be working on various construction projects alongside the Commercial Manager and given all the necessary tools to build a long-term and successful career.
Responsibilities
Prepare cost plans, budgets, and financial forecasts
Monitor project expenditures and ensure value for money
Manage and track variations and change orders
Draft, review, and manage contracts and subcontracts
Help source subcontractors and suppliers
Prepare tender packages and analyse bids
Analyse tender documents, drawings, and specifications
Identify and assess risks, constraints, and opportunities
Work with the pre-construction team to prepare bid submissions
Ensure tenders are submitted on time and in line with client requirements
Person
Current or previous roles as a Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a construction main contractor
Strong understanding of construction methods and materials
Commercial acumen and attention to detail
Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., ConQuest, Excel)
Negotiation and communication skills
Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Effective communication and listening skills
A good understanding of the building regulations, local authority agreements
Previous experience working within the commercial construction industry on new build and refurbishment schemes
Ability to organise and prioritise your workload
Works effectively to deadlines and competently works on multiple tasks simultaneously
SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid
