About the role

Mechanical QA/QC Engineer
Summary
We’re looking for a Mechanical QA/QC Engineer to join our team and support quality assurance and quality control delivery on a major UK nuclear new build power station project. This role will suit someone with proven QA/QC experience in mechanical systems, looking to work on one of the country’s most high-profile construction projects.

Responsibilities

Implement project Quality Management System requirements, supporting compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 19443 standards.
Review and verify contractor quality plans, inspection plans and method statements.
Conduct inspections and surveillance of mechanical installation and testing activities.
Monitor and maintain quality records in line with project requirements.
Witness testing activities and verify completion of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
Manage non-conformance process, including raising NCRs and supporting root cause analysis.
Liaise with construction supervisors, commissioning teams and client representatives to ensure compliance.
Support the production and review of lifetime quality records and turnover documentation.

Must‑have Requirements

HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, related discipline or equivalent experience.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in QA/QC roles within major construction or infrastructure projects.
Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and inspection/test planning.
Previous experience supporting mechanical installation and commissioning activities.
Relevant site safety qualification.

Nice‑to‑have Skills

Nuclear new build or regulated industry experience (nuclear, oil & gas, petrochemical, defence).
Membership of CQI or IMechE.
Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification.
Familiarity with RCC-M, ASME codes or pressure system regulations.
