HGV Shunter / Yard Assistant

Monday to Friday, 7am-4 :30pm! Well Established Family-Run Business! Maidstone Area We are recruiting for a Class 1 HGV Shunter / Yard Assistant to join an established and respected family-run business based in Maidstone. This is a varied, hands-on role combining HGV driving, vehicle movements, site operations, and general yard duties. We're looking for someone reliable, hardworking, and positive, who takes pride in their work and is happy to support the wider team when needed. Responsibilities • Shunting and safely moving HGVs, trailers, and vehicles around the site. • Carrying out driving duties as required. • Operating a counterbalance forklift. • Maintaining a clean, tidy, and organised yard and workshop. • Separating waste and recyclable materials. • Cleaning repaired vehicles to a high standard. • Carrying out quality control checks on vehicles before they are returned to customers. • Supporting the wider team with general site and yard duties. • Locking and securing the site at the end of the working day. Requirements • Valid Class 1 (Category C+E) HGV licence. • Valid Counterbalance Forklift licence. • Confident reversing and manoeuvring trailers safely. • Good understanding of health and safety. • Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently. • Pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation. • Flexible attitude and willingness to support the wider business.
