Job summary

We’re responsible for Land Transaction Tax, Landfill Disposals Tax and the introduction of the Visitor Levy in Wales. Our work raises revenue to support public services, like the NHS and schools, in communities across Wales. But that’s not all, we're also involved with and support future tax design for Wales.

Job description

You will lead as a senior product manager overseeing a portfolio of the WRAs customer contact products. This will include our Customer Relationship Management (CRM), telephony, forms and letter products. These products are our core tools for managing our interactions with our customers and will evolve over time.

You will set the vision and strategy of the technical outcomes of these products, manage dependencies, and identify and manage priorities to ensure the successful delivery of the technical products based on introducing value within the products.

As senior product manager you will work within multi-disciplinary teams to define, explain, and iterate product visions that are compelling to your users, team and stakeholders.

You will plan the work for multi-disciplinary teams, helping to build and deliver ambitious product roadmaps. You will become the expert in these products and make decisions as to what changes / features / work is needed and prioritise their development.

You will be responsible for collaborating with prospective and current users to understand and anticipate their needs; identify, prioritise and communicate changes in their requirements; pitch ideas for product features; feed into the development of user stories and be a primary contact between the multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders.

You will work collaboratively across multiple teams with a mixed team of civil servants and contractors collaborating with an Agile approach.

You must be able to learn about new products and features quickly and understand and explain technical considerations to a variety of stakeholders both technical and non-technical.

Person specification

The senior product manager will;

• take ownership of the customer contact products, representing end users.
• lead products through different phases of the product life cycle, from discovery, through development, delivery and continuous improvement, to retirement.
• form a clear product vision & road map and engage with teams and stakeholders in the development of that vision.
• ensure product road maps are aligned to the organisations’ strategy and core deliverables.
• keep people informed about the development of their products and promote their uptake.
• work with others to ensure there is a seamless end-to-end customer journey across products / services.
• collaborate with users (internal and external) throughout the design and delivery process and use feedback from users to inform continuous improvement.
• ensure operational running of the product, be involved in any ongoing incidents and support the prioritisation of the resolution of the issues and defects vs ongoing change commitments.
• work with colleagues to ensure data considerations, information governance requirements including retention and disposal and privacy are at the forefront of designed changes.
• work closely with other product managers, service owners, designers and operational delivery to ensure synergy across the WRA’s products.
• be a visible leader in this space, supporting the WRA in understanding how we can make the most of product manager roles in a small organisation, and how we develop capability in this area.
