About the role

We have an excellent opportunity for a Lead Electrical Engineer based in Manchester, working within the Nuclear industry. HV Substation Project / Small Power and LightingThis can be worked on a hybrid basis, two or three days in the office and the rest remote. Flexible working can be discussed.Market ratesKEY RESPONSIBILITIES This is purely an electrical role - Candidates must have recent electrical engineering experience in detailed design.Mut be able to obtain security clearance (British Citizens with British passports and not have worked outside the UK during the past 5 years)Your responsibilities could involve:Assuming overall responsibility for delivery of the electrical scope. Including but not limited to Schedule and MDR creation, change control, project reporting, leading meetings, delegating work packages to the electrical teamSupporting project estimates including CTR'sElectrical discipline technical input for projects preparation, checking and approval of engineering documentation. Including but not limited to Basis of Design, Power System Calculations, Earthing and Lightning Calculations, Equipment sizing calculations, Load Schedules, Equipment Specification and Datasheets, SLDs, Cable Schedules, Material Take Offs, BCDs, Schematics, Equipment and Cable Routing LayoutsPreparing equipment and materials requisitions for HV and LV switchboards, transformers, motors, UPS systems, power factor correction, trace-heating, lighting and other electrical equipmentReviewing supplier's quotations and preparing technical bid assessmentsPreparing installation scopes of workEnsuring all applicable national and international codes of practice, legislation and company/client standards and procedures are complied withMore specific tasks could include: HV Power System Modelling HV Protection Studies Liaising with the DNO and other stakeholders Electrical equipment ageing and Obsolescence Management Supporting site teams with operational issuesQUALIFICATIONSDegree in relevant engineering discipline (e.g. Electronic / Electrical / Control Engineering) Apprenticeships may be considered Chartered or Incorporated engineer status with a relevant professional body or evidence of working towards gaining these professional titlesTECHNICAL EXPERIENCEGood knowledge of design working practices and installation requirements of the relevant sector15 years engineering experience in the relevant or similar sectors In depth knowledge of UK legislation and standardsKnowledge in the requirements for installation of equipment in potentially explosive areasExperience in the requirements for CE marking of plant and equipment, including ATEX, PED, Low Voltage Directive, Machinery Directive and EMC ComplianceAwareness of risk identification, quantification, management and of HSE requirementsThe ideal candidate should be highly motivated, possess good communication skills and be confident engaging with colleagues and relevant stakeholdersExperience of managing an electrical team to deliver projects to schedule and budget Works with safety and risk management at the forefront of their minds Customer focussed
