DA5, Bexley, Greater London Lotus Recruitment Ltd School Caretaker / Premises Manager Location: Bexley, South East London Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent/Long-Term School Caretaker / Premises Manager – Popular Primary School A well-respected and popular primary school in Bexley is looking to appoint an experienced School Caretaker / Premises Manager to take ownership of the school site and play a key role in ensuring a safe, secure and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who takes real pride in their work and enjoys being a valued member of the school community. The school is looking for an individual who can hit the ground running from day one. They need someone who is proactive, highly organised and confident making decisions independently, rather than waiting to be directed. Working closely with the Business Manager and Headteacher, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the site, ensuring the school remains compliant, well-maintained and presented to the highest standard. Key Responsibilities * Opening and securing the school site each day. * Managing the maintenance, presentation and overall upkeep of the buildings and grounds. * Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs. * Completing and recording all statutory health and safety checks. * Ensuring compliance with fire safety, water hygiene, asbestos awareness, COSHH and general premises legislation. * Liaising with contractors and overseeing work carried out on site. * Managing site security and responding promptly to maintenance issues. * Preparing the school for events, meetings and lettings where required. * Identifying maintenance issues before they become problems and implementing practical solutions. * Working collaboratively with the Business Manager and Headteacher to continually improve the school environment. The Ideal Candidate * Previous experience as a School Caretaker, Site Manager or Premises Manager within an educational setting. * Strong knowledge of school health and safety compliance and statutory checks. * Practical maintenance and DIY skills across a range of areas. * Able to prioritise workloads and work independently with minimal supervision. * Uses initiative to identify what needs doing rather than waiting to be asked. * Takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming school environment. * Professional, approachable and committed to becoming an integral part of the school community. Essential Requirements * Previous experience working within a school premises or facilities role. * Excellent understanding of health and safety legislation and compliance within schools. * Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one. * Right to work in the UK.
