Job Summary: Social Worker (Children's Care)
Organization: Oldham Council (Grade 8)
Reporting To: Team Manager / Senior Practitioner
Core Purpose: To manage a complex caseload of vulnerable children and young people, assessing risks and delivering interventions that ensure their safety and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Assessments & Planning: Conduct risk and needs assessments to co-produce actionable, whole-family care plans.
Safeguarding & Case Management: Intervene directly to protect children at risk, manage electronic case files, and write professional reports for decision-making forums.
Partnership & Mentorship: Collaborate with schools, police, and health partners, while providing guidance to less experienced staff and students.
Requirements
Credentials: Degree in Social Work, active Social Work England registration, and completed ASYE.
Experience: Proven track record of managing complex child protection cases and conducting detailed risk assessments.
Skills: Strong crisis-resolution skills, sound analytical judgment, and IT proficiency.
Other: Enhanced DBS check, valid driver's license (or independent mobility), and flexibility for occasional unsocial hours.
